  • A Community Plan is the highest level of strategic planning undertaken by a local council. All other plans should reflect and support its implementation. It identifies the main priorities and aspirations of the community, providing a clear set of strategies to achieve the vision for the future.

  • The previous Community Plan was prepared in 2015 and reviewed in 2020 to create an updated document, the Mid-Term Review Supplement. Both documents are available on Council’s website, or by clicking the links below.

  • Complete initiatives include the development of a Community Engagement Strategy, commitment of record funding for West Coast Highways, creation of the Aquaculture Hub, development of the Destination Action Plan, and a world class West Coast Brand.

  • The purpose of the Community Plan is to ensure the whole community is working towards a shared vision and a bright future.

    The Local Government Act requires all Councils in Tasmania to prepare a Strategic Plan in consultation with the local community. The Plan must be for the whole municipal area and cover a ten-year period.

  • Council has a role in preparing the West Coast Community Plan, but it is a community-owned document. Many partners, such as State government agencies, local industry and community groups all have a role in bringing the plan to life.
